Angelica Radix Paeoniae Radix is composed of Angelica Radix, Paeoniae Alba, Poria, Atractylodes Macrocephalae, Zedoary, Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong, among which Paeoniae Alba can diarrhea the liver and wood; Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong and Angelica Radix can nourish blood and relieve pain; Poria can seep away dampness and relieve urination; Atractylodes Macrocephalae is beneficial to the spleen and drying up dampness; Poria and Zedoary can eliminate dampness and relieve urination.
The combination of these herbs makes Angelica and Paeonia lactiflora Radix with the efficacy of nourishing Blood, regulating Liver, strengthening Spleen and inducing Dampness, which is commonly used in clinic for treating the abdominal constriction (cramps and convulsions due to the feeling of wind-cold) and lingering pains in women caused by the deficiency of the Liver and Spleen in the pregnancy or menstruation period, and accompanied by dizziness, palpitations, swelling of the lower limbs, and dysuria (unruly urination). It is not recommended for those with diarrhea and those with heavy menstrual flow.
