Damp-heat underflow (dampness and heat evils invade the intestines, bladder, yin, underflow, etc.) is a type of evidence in Chinese medicine, not a disease. Damp-heat underflow can be combined with acupoints such as yinlingquan, ququan, etc., but the specific acupoints to be used need to be decided according to the patient’s condition, and in addition, it is not recommended that the patient carry out moxibustion on his own.
Zhongji: in the front center line, four inches below the umbilicus. It can warm yang and benefit water (replenish yang qi in the body and promote the circulation of water and liquid), regulate menstruation and stop leucorrhea (regulate menstruation and reduce abnormally increased leucorrhea). It can be used to treat enuresis, dysuria (unsmooth urination), retention of urine (dribbling or inability to urinate), spermatorrhea, impotence, infertility, and menstrual disorders.
Yinlingquan: located on the inner side of the lower leg, in the depression between the lower edge of the medial tibial condyle and the medial edge of the tibia. It strengthens the spleen and kidneys, induces diuresis and seepage of dampness (promoting the flow of water to dispel dampness), and activates the meridians and collaterals. It can be used for abdominal distension, diarrhea, edema, jaundice, dysuria, dyspareunia, incontinence and knee pain.
Ququan: located in the knee, at the medial end of the popliteal transverse stripe, in the depression of the inner edge of the semitendinosus tendon. It can regulate menstruation and stop leucorrhea, clear away heat and dampness, and relieve tendons and activate collaterals. It can be used for irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, yin jing (women with prolapsed uterus even out of the vaginal opening), yin itching, postpartum abdominal pain, dysuria, knee and patellar swelling and pain, and impotence paralysis of the lower limbs (lower limb weakness, numbness and pain).
Patients are advised to seek timely medical treatment and follow the doctor’s instructions.
