Can levofloxacin be used under 18 years of age

Levofloxacin is not clinically recommended for use in adolescents under the age of 18. Levofloxacin belongs to the class of fluoroquinolones and is available in various dosage forms such as capsules, injections and eye drops. The applicable dosage forms vary according to the patient’s clinical diagnosis and department. Patients are clinically advised to use the drug according to the drug’s instruction or doctor’s prescription, and it is forbidden to change the dosage or duration of use without authorization. Because of the inhibitory effect of fluoroquinolones on the growth of cartilage tissue, levofloxacin is not recommended for adolescents under 18 years of age unless there are specific clinical indications.
