What is the ringing inside the thumb?

Most of the ringing inside the thumb is due to stenosing tenosynovitis of the thumb. Stenosing tenosynovitis of the thumb is common in women and can be associated with diabetes or hypothyroidism. It is also common in patients who repeatedly flex and extend their thumbs with their hands for a long time, such as long-term sweater knitters or long-term string wearers, who can experience pain at the metacarpophalangeal joint on the palm side of the thumb, with localized hard nodules that can be palpated. The pain is often severe in the morning and can be accompanied by morning stiffness, so patients should go to the hospital for timely treatment. If the thumb pops repeatedly and the joint movement is significantly limited, surgical release should be considered.
