Chinese medicine treats hypertension with medication and acupuncture, and the specific medication and acupoints need to be determined according to the type of evidence.
1. Medication: In Chinese medicine, hypertension is usually categorized as headache, dizziness, etc. Common symptoms include deficiency of qi and blood, phlegm-dampness obstruction, and stasis in the brain and collaterals. If symptoms such as fatigue (mental exhaustion and physical weakness), dizziness and headache are the main causes of hypertension, it is considered to be a deficiency of qi and blood, and can be treated with qui shan tang (归脾汤).
If symptoms such as heavy head, chest and epigastric congestion, headache, etc. are considered to be phlegm-dampness obstruction, can choose the Semixia and Atractylodis Macrocephalae Tianma Soup, etc.; and head tingling, fixed pain, etc., can be considered to be stasis blockage of cerebral collaterals, can choose the Tongxiao and Blood Activation Soup, etc. treatment.
2. Acupuncture and moxibustion treatment: the commonly used acupoints for this disease are Taichong, Fengchi, Quchi, Baihui, Hegu, etc. Among them, Baihui and Fengchi can ease the pain. Among them, Baihui and Fengchi can dredge and regulate head qi, calm the liver and subdue yang (inhibit too much rising yang qi in the liver); Taichong can dredge the liver and regulate qi (regulate stagnation of liver qi); Hegu and Quchi can purify and diarrheal yangming.
Specific medications and moxibustion need to be consulted with a doctor, while acupuncture should be performed by a doctor, not by oneself.
