Quadruple therapy can treat H. pylori infection and is the drug therapy of choice against H. pylori infection.
Quadruple therapy consists of a bismuth-containing gastric mucosal protector, a proton pump inhibitor to inhibit gastric acid, and two antibiotics to fight H. pylori, with commonly used combinations such as bismuth potassium citrate + amoxicillin + metronidazole + omeprazole, bismuth potassium citrate + amoxicillin + furazolidone + omeprazole, and so on. This treatment is the mainstream method for the eradication of H. pylori.
H. pylori infection can cause gastroenteritis, peptic ulcer and other diseases, and in serious cases, it can lead to cancer. The infection is common in the population and can be transmitted by contact, fecal-oral and other means. It is highly contagious and harmful, so once discovered, anti-infection treatment should be carried out in a timely manner. Clinically preferred is the quadruple combination therapy, and antibiotics should be taken after meals to avoid stomach upset.
