Can Massage Promote Bone Scab Growth

Bone scabs do not grow. After a fracture, the body goes through phases of scab formation and scab remodeling. Massage is not allowed during the scab formation phase, and it is allowed during the scab remodeling phase, and massage has a lesser effect on scab reconstruction. After a fracture, the body has to go through three phases to fully recover, the first phase is the hematoma mechanization phase, the second phase is the original bone scab formation phase, and the third phase is the bone scab remodeling phase. The hematoma mechanization period lasts about 1~2 weeks, and the primitive bone scab formation period takes about 12 weeks. During these two periods, since the fracture has not yet fully recovered, massage is not allowed to avoid causing re-fracture. The third phase is the remodeling phase, which is the phase after the original scab formation phase, and this phase can last up to 2 years. As the bone scab is more stable at this stage, patients can gradually carry out appropriate exercise, and only at this stage can massage be carried out, massage has less effect on the reconstruction of the bone scab, and has the effect of promoting blood circulation to the muscles, fascia and other soft tissues around the bone. If the fracture is diagnosed, please follow the doctor’s instructions for rehabilitation.
