Cervical lymph node palpation sequence

The order of palpation of lymph nodes in the neck starts from the front of the ear, behind the ear, behind the occiput, and then gradually transitions to the jaw, chin, anterior neck, lateral neck, posterior neck, and finally palpation of supraclavicular lymph nodes. If swollen lymph nodes in the neck are present, but there is no pain, the possibility of tumor metastasis is very high. Commonly, it is thyroid cancer that causes metastasis in the lymph nodes of the neck. If the diagnosis is clear, radical thyroid cancer surgery is recommended. If the patient presents with enlarged left supraclavicular lymph nodes, the possibility of advanced gastric cancer or advanced gastroesophageal junction cancer is very high. Gastroscopy or CT examination of the upper abdomen should be performed to make a definite diagnosis.
