How to treat a pterygium

Pterygium is known as pterygium, and the main way of its treatment is surgical excision treatment, patients can choose the appropriate surgical method under the guidance of the doctor.
Pterygium generally refers to a membranous growth that protrudes from the conjunctiva of the eye, mainly due to the pterygoid invasion of the bulbar conjunctiva and fibrovascular tissues into the superficial layers of the cornea, causing proliferation and degeneration of the conjunctival tissues. The most common form of pterygium treatment is surgical excision treatment, which improves the patient’s discomfort by removing the proliferation.
If the pterygium does not invade the cornea, simple excision of the pterygium can be performed. If the pterygium is large, hypertrophied and fast-growing, pterygium excision combined with free conjunctival flap transplantation or pterygium excision and tipped conjunctival flap transplantation can be performed.
It is recommended that patients with pterygium should seek prompt medical attention to evaluate their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions.
