Substantial diffuse thyroid lesion is a description of a thyroid ultrasound examination, which is a typical manifestation of chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, and may be accompanied by inhomogeneous echogenicity of the thyroid gland. It may be caused by nodular goiter, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, Graves’ disease and other diseases, and requires targeted treatment under the guidance of the doctor, such as drug treatment, surgery and so on.
1. Nodular goiter: if combined with hyperthyroidism, you can take drugs to reduce the synthesis of thyroid hormones, such as propylthiouracil, etc., and also take propranolol to improve the symptoms of hyperthyroidism; if combined with hypothyroidism, you can take levothyroxine sodium tablets to treat it; if the enlargement leads to the production of pressure symptoms, you can be surgically treated.
2. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis: levothyroxine sodium tablets can be taken for treatment of hypothyroidism, and no treatment can be given if there is only goiter and no symptoms of hypothyroidism.
3. Graves’ disease: when combined with hyperthyroidism, it is necessary to take drugs that inhibit the synthesis of thyroxine, such as methimazole, etc. Iodine 131 treatment is recommended for those who have relapsed after treatment with antithyroid drugs.
In the case of substantial diffuse thyroid lesions, it is recommended to go to the hospital, under the guidance of the doctor’s treatment.
