There is no clear evidence that swelling at gout can be treated by rubbing toothpaste.
Toothpaste is a household product used to clean teeth, roughly containing calcium carbonate, silica, glycerin, sorbitol, carbomer, fluoride, chlorhexidine and zinc salts and other ingredients, so far, it has not been found that the substances contained in these ingredients can play an effective role in relieving pain and swelling in joints when patients suffer from gout attacks, such as severe pain and swelling.
Gout patients with joint swelling, joint pain and other symptoms can be relieved by oral colchicine and indomethacin, etoricoxib and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to relieve the symptoms, but these drugs need to be used under the guidance of a physician, such as the emergence of serious adverse drug reactions after taking the drug or no significant relief of the symptoms should be promptly consult a doctor.
It is recommended that gout patients go to the rheumatology and immunology department of regular hospitals, orthopedics and other related departments for detailed consultation, and follow the doctor’s instructions for diagnosis and treatment.
