What’s wrong with numbness in the shoulders?

Shoulder numbness may be related to physiological factors shoulder pressure, but also may be related to the brachial plexus nerve numbness, trauma, nerve root cervical spondylosis and other pathological factors.
1. Physiological factors: If the sleeping posture is not proper, such as long time side lying shoulder compression, can lead to poor local blood circulation, and cause shoulder numbness, it is recommended to avoid long time fixed sleeping posture, should pay attention to the change of sleeping posture.
2. Pathologic factors:
(1) Brachial plexus nerve injury: if the brachial plexus nerve is compressed in the process of traveling, or if the brachial plexus nerve is strained in the process of exercise, numbness of the shoulder can occur.
(2) Trauma: If the shoulder is traumatized, such as shoulder joint fracture, acute strain of shoulder joint, etc., it will lead to local swelling of the shoulder and blood circulation disorder, resulting in ischemia and hypoxia of local nerves and nerve conduction dysfunction, which will lead to local numbness and so on.
(3) Neurogenic cervical spondylosis: Due to the compression of nerve roots by cervical spine degeneration, especially the compression of the nerve roots innervating the suprascapular nerve, it can lead to numbness of the shoulder, accompanied by weakness of the upper limbs, abnormal skin sensation, radiating pain in the shoulder and other manifestations.
Shoulder numbness patients in the exclusion of physiological factors, should go to the hospital in a timely manner to identify the cause of the disease, and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
