What is left adrenal gland thickening

The thickening of the left adrenal gland should be considered for the possibility of adrenal nodular hyperplasia or adrenal adenoma. A CT scan plus enhancement of the adrenal gland is recommended to effectively assess the size of the adrenal hyperplasia, its relationship to the surrounding area, and whether there is enhancement. The history should also be followed up for hypertension, hypokalemia, and obesity to assess whether this adenoma is functional. Laboratory tests for renin and angiotensin should be done, cortisol should be done, 17-hydroxy and 17-ketone tests should be done, catecholamine concentration should be measured as well as high-dose and low-dose dexamethasone tests to effectively determine whether the adrenal gland requires surgical intervention.
