Amino acid milk powder is also medically called completely hydrolyzed protein milk powder, and its proteins are completely hydrolyzed into amino acids, so it is not immunogenic. It is mainly used to treat high milk protein allergy, or milk protein allergy where multiple systemic clinical symptoms exist. Its caloric nutritional requirements are the same as those of a regular formula, but it still has some side effects. The main side effect, for infants, is that because amino acids are not immunogenic, they cannot induce immune tolerance to milk proteins in infants. The taste of amino acid formula is relatively bitter and infants may not want to drink it. If infants drink less and for a longer period of time, normal nutrition, growth and development may be affected.
