Arm soreness and weakness may be physiologic or pathologic. Physiological may be related to strain, sleeping position, cold and other factors. Pathologic may be related to frozen shoulder, cervical spondylosis, elbow arthropathy and other diseases. The specific cause of the disease can only be clarified after consultation and examination in the hospital.
1. Physiological causes
(1) Strain: excessive weight bearing or overloaded arm exercise will lead to arm muscle pain and weakness, which can be relieved after resting.
(2) Sleeping posture: sleeping in an incorrect posture leads to compression of the arm, it may lead to arm pain and weakness, generally transient.
(3) Cold: muscle spasm or pain in the cold stimulation, may also appear soreness and weakness.
2. Pathological causes
(1) Frozen shoulder: the symptoms are mainly pain around the shoulder joint and limitation of movement. Most of the frozen shoulder can be cured on its own. Generally, after removing the cause of the disease, the pain symptoms and muscle spasm of the affected shoulder will be reduced.
(2) Cervical spondylosis: Symptoms mainly include head and neck pain, stiffness and discomfort. Some types of cervical spondylosis can have radiating pain and numbness in the upper limbs. Physiotherapy, exercise therapy and medication are needed to control symptoms and reduce recurrence.
(3) Elbow arthropathy lesions: Inflammation, contusion, infection, etc. in the elbow joint of the arm can lead to arm pain and weakness. The cause of the lesion can be clarified in the hospital.
In daily life, it is recommended to reduce the strain on the arm and pay attention to keep warm. If the symptoms still persist after eliminating the physiological causes, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time to clarify the cause of the disease and carry out targeted treatment.
