What are high white blood cells and high neutrophils?

High white blood cells and high neutrophils can often be seen in patients on glucocorticosteroids, patients with bacterial infections, patients with acute stress, and patients with hematologic disorders.
Leukocytes include neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils and basophils. Elevated neutrophils can lead to elevated white blood cells.
1. The application of glucocorticoids can lead to elevated neutrophils, such as prednisone.
2. Bacterial infections can also lead to elevated neutrophils, and the more severe the bacterial infection, the higher the degree of neutrophil elevation.
3. Some acute stress, such as trauma, surgery, acute bleeding, etc., can also lead to neutrophil elevation.
4. Hematopoietic diseases such as acute leukemia and myeloproliferative neoplasms can lead to elevated neutrophils.
There are many reasons for elevated neutrophils and thus elevated white blood cells, and differential diagnosis is needed in the clinic. Specific diagnosis and treatment should be carried out under the guidance of a physician.
