Serious side effects do not usually occur when adapalene gel is used correctly. Prolonged application of adapalene gel can cause side effects on the skin.

Adapalene gel is a retinoid compound that has shown anti-inflammatory effects in in vivo and in vitro models of inflammation. Adapalene treats acne and also has a therapeutic effect on the process of abnormal epidermal keratinization and differentiation, one of the causes of acne.
Side effects can occur in the skin with prolonged application of adapalene gel, commonly manifesting as erythema, dryness, localized flaking of the skin, itching, and a tingling sensation, mostly mild or moderate. In rare cases, serious side effects can occur, such as dermatitis and contact dermatitis as well as eye puffiness, conjunctivitis, rash and eczema.
Vitamin A derivatives are contraindicated in persons with hypersensitivity to vitamin A derivatives, in patients with acute or subacute dermatitis, eczema-type skin disorders, and in women during pregnancy and planned pregnancy.
Patients should regulate the use of Adapalene Gel under the guidance of a doctor, do not adjust the dose of use as well as the course of treatment. When adverse reactions occur, the number of times the drug is used should be reduced or discontinued, and promptly go to the hospital for follow-up.
