How to deal with phlegm in babies

Infants with phlegm may be caused by pharyngitis, pneumonia, bronchitis and other diseases, which can be treated with medication. 1. Upper respiratory tract infection: children with pharyngitis will have symptoms such as cough, runny nose, nasal congestion and coughing up phlegm. If it is caused by a virus, no special medication is needed. If it is combined with bacterial infection, antibacterial drugs such as cefixime and amoxicillin should be used; if it is caused by influenza virus, antiviral drugs such as oseltamivir can be applied. 2. Pneumonia: The main symptoms of children with pneumonia are cough, sputum and pus sputum. For Streptococcus pneumoniae infection pneumonia, parents can follow the doctor’s instructions to the child oral amoxicillin capsules, amoxicillin clavulanate potassium and other penicillin antibiotics. In case of Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia, patients can take oral erythromycin capsules, azithromycin tablets and other macrolide antibiotics. When infants have phlegm, parents should take their children to the doctor in time to find out the cause of the disease. All of the above medications should be used under doctor’s supervision, avoid self-medication.
