Can intestinal metaplasia be reversed?

Usually, intestinal chemosis is irreversible.

Intestinal metaplasia is clinically known as intestinal epithelialization, which refers to the replacement of epithelial cells of the normal gastric mucosa by intestinal epithelial cells.

Intestinal metaplasia may be caused by chronic gastritis and may progress to gastric cancer. In mild cases, patients usually have no obvious symptoms and are advised to have regular checkups. In severe cases, patients may experience epigastric pain, acid reflux, belching, nausea, bloating and loss of appetite. So intestinal chemosis is irreversible.

Patients with intestinal chemosis are advised to pay attention to their daily diet and eat regularly. Take a light diet, try not to eat preserved food such as preserved fish, bacon, etc., eat less stimulating and greasy food, quit smoking and drinking, and at the same time, keep a good mood.

In addition, if the patient with intestinal chemosis has other discomforts, it is recommended that the patient go to the hospital in time.
