Can atrophic gastritis be cured with Chinese medicine?

Atrophic gastritis is equivalent to the category of stomach pain and plumpness (stomach distension and discomfort) in traditional Chinese medicine. Whether or not it can be cured by traditional Chinese medicine is related to the severity of the condition and whether or not the medication is used appropriately, so it is not possible to make a generalization.

According to TCM diagnosis, it is generally categorized into stagnation of blood stasis, weakness of the spleen and stomach, and insufficiency of stomach yin (insufficient yin fluid in the stomach).

1. Liver-stomach disharmony (disharmony between the ascending function of the liver and the descending function of the stomach and internal organs) should be treated by dredging the liver and regulating the stagnation of liver qi (regulating the stagnation of liver qi), harmonizing the stomach and relieving the pain, and the formula should be Chaihu Shuohexuan San with additional subtraction.

2. If the spleen and stomach are weak, it is advisable to strengthen the spleen and promote dampness, warm the middle and stomach (warm the spleen and stomach, harmonize the stomach and internal organs), and the formula is Sijunzi Tang with additions and subtractions.

3. For those with dampness and heat in the spleen and stomach (the spleen and stomach feel dampness and heat), the treatment is to clear away dampness and heat, wake up the spleen and remove turbidity, and the formula is to add or subtract San Ren Tang.

4. For those with insufficient stomach yin, it is advisable to nourish yin and benefit the stomach (replenish yin fluid and enhance the function of the stomach and internal organs), and harmonize the middle to relieve pain, and the formula is Yiqi Tang with additions or subtractions.

5. For those with blood stasis and obstruction of collaterals, it is advisable to remove blood stasis and clear the collaterals, harmonize the stomach and relieve pain, and the formula is to add or subtract Lost Smile San and Danshen Drink.

Patients with atrophic gastritis should not eat spicy, cold and indigestible food during the period of medication, and should maintain a relaxed mood.

Before using Chinese medicine, you need to have the guidance of a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, do not use medicine blindly.
