Chronic prostatitis is generally categorized in Chinese medicine according to its manifestations of oliguria, pain when urinating, and dribbling as “retention of urine (dribbling or not being able to urinate)” and “gonorrhea (increased frequency of urination, dribbling, astringency and pain)”. There is no definite answer to the question of how long it takes to get well from taking pCms, and no generalization can be made. The exact time is related to the individual’s physical condition, the extent of the disease, and the sensitivity to drug absorption. If the patient has a healthy body, no history of illness, and strong absorption of the drug, there may be a change in symptoms after a course of continuous medication. If the absorption is slow and there are other chronic diseases, the effect will take longer, ranging from several months to half a year. Chinese medicine practitioners give different proprietary Chinese medicines according to the different identification and typing of the patient’s manifestations. Generally, they can be categorized into Damp-Heat Underflow (Dampness and Heat evils invade the intestines, bladder, Yin, lower limbs, etc.), Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis (Blood stasis due to the lack of Qi flow), Yin Deficiency and Fire Exuberance (deficiency of Yin essence in the body and hyperactivity of deficiency and fire), and Kidney-Yang Deficiency and Weakness (deficiency of yang in the kidneys), and so on. According to the different types of symptoms, medicines with the effects of clearing away heat and resolving dampness, promoting qi and activating blood circulation (promoting the movement of qi and blood circulation) will be given to the patient. Patients are advised to undergo standardized treatment as early as possible in order to reduce the adverse effects of the disease, and the use of traditional Chinese medicines should be based on evidence and not be used arbitrarily, so as not to misuse the medicinal properties.
