Positive ana during pregnancy indicates that a pregnant woman may have an immune disease and needs to be retested promptly. ana, or antinuclear antibody, is an important serologic marker for systemic autoimmune diseases. It has high value for its diagnosis, such as active systemic lupus erythematosus with a positive rate of up to 90%, and others such as dry syndrome, scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic active hepatitis, primary biliary cirrhosis, as well as the elderly, may be positive. A positive test for ana in pregnant women may be a false positive, at which point a retest is needed. If the test is persistently positive, further testing is required under the supervision of a physician to determine the cause of the disease and the treatment plan.
