What causes onychomycosis?

Most cases of onychomycosis are inflammation that develops when microorganisms infect the tissues surrounding the nail, while a few cases are caused by repeated irritation over time. There are two types of onychomycosis: acute onychomycosis and chronic onychomycosis.

Accidental bumps, cuts, or excessive manicure, barbs, etc., will cause damage to the nail groove and the tissue around the nail groove, bacteria will enter the tissue through the damaged area, such as Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, etc., which will result in localized infections and the formation of acute onychomycosis.

Long-term hand labor, repeated friction or frequent contact with irritating chemicals can damage the tissues around the nail groove and cause a chronic inflammatory response.

If diagnosed with nail groove inflammation should be standardized treatment under the guidance of a doctor, usually pay attention to personal hygiene, and do a good job of care around the finger (toe) nails.
