Patients with tuberculosis should avoid pregnancy during the active period

  Patients with pulmonary tuberculosis should avoid contraception during the active phase. The so-called active phase mainly refers to: clinical symptoms such as fever, night sweats, general malaise, cough, hemoptysis, or chest imaging with infiltration, exudation, caseous lesions, and elevated blood sedimentation rate.  Avoid pregnancy mainly for the following reasons: (1), metabolism, blood circulation, immunity, endocrine and respiratory system functions are changed during pregnancy; such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite and other reactions occurring in early pregnancy, which can affect the nutrition of pregnant women and aggravate tuberculosis; (2), during delivery: (1), tuberculosis bacilli can cause blood dissemination through the blood; (2), a sudden drop in intra-abdominal pressure and diaphragmatic descent, which can cause (2), a sudden drop in intra-abdominal pressure and diaphragmatic descent can cause expansion of lung tissue, which, together with low body resistance after delivery, can lead to worsening of tuberculosis.  (3) Anti-tuberculosis drugs may be teratogenic to the fetus; (4) Tuberculosis bacteria may invade the fetus and infect it with tuberculosis.  5.Tuberculosis can cause hypoxia and malnutrition in the fetus, leading to developmental delay, miscarriage, premature birth or stillbirth.  6, abortion may cause the blood type transmission of tuberculosis bacteria . Therefore, TB patients should avoid pregnancy. Patients are advised to consider pregnancy after 2 years of TB cure.
