What is a skull fracture?

Patients with skull fractures need to be seen in neurosurgery.
Skull fractures are traumatic injuries to the skull caused by external violence, and are treated differently depending on the location, nature and shape of the fracture.
For relatively mild simple linear fracture, no special treatment is needed, and conservative treatment is sufficient if there is no intracranial injury. If the skull fracture is associated with cerebrospinal fluid leakage, the affected area should be kept clean and the patient should be placed in the contralateral or horizontal position.
For more severe skull fractures, compression of brain tissue or hemorrhage, neurosurgery should be performed to remove or decompress the fracture fragments.
It should be noted that the skull fracture condition varies greatly, the patient should go to the regular hospital as soon as possible for treatment to avoid adverse consequences.
