How to treat ovarian cysts

Ovarian cysts are cystic structures that form in or on the surface of the ovary and are relatively common in gynecology. They can occur in one ovary or in both ovaries. The treatment of ovarian cysts is mainly surgical, and different treatments can be taken according to the patient’s age, fertility needs, clinical symptoms, and size of the cysts.
If the cysts are small and do not have any clinical symptoms, they can usually be followed up for observation and treatment. If the cyst grows fast or the size of the cyst increases, the diameter of the cyst is ≥5 cm. 3~6 months of observation, the cyst persists. Ovarian cyst rupture or tip torsion causing acute abdominal symptoms, and ovarian cysts in postmenopausal women. All of the above cases need to be considered for surgical excision treatment.
In general, for young people who need to preserve their fertility, cysts are often removed and normal ovaries are preserved as much as possible. For older patients or those who do not need to preserve fertility, resection of one or both ovarian tubes is feasible. If there is malignant lesion after cyst removal, it should be sent to pathology examination to clarify the nature of further treatment.
