Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment of acne

Acne in Chinese medicine is recognized as acne in western medicine, which can be dealt with through the comprehensive treatment of internal medication and external medication, with lung heat and gastrointestinal dampness-heat as the mainstay in the early stage of the disease, and phlegm stasis in the late stage. This disease is mainly characterized by lung heat and gastrointestinal dampness-heat in the early stage, and phlegm-dampness-stasis in the later stage. 1. Internal medication: (1) Lung meridian wind-heat: papules with red color, itching and pain, or pustules; accompanied by thirst and desire to drink, constipation, short and reddish urine (small amount of urine, dark yellow color); red tongue, thin yellow moss, slippery pulse. Treatment: clearing wind and lung. Prescription: Loquat Lung Cleansing Drink plus subtractions. (2) Damp-heat in the stomach and intestines: greasy skin on the face, chest and back, red, swollen and painful rashes, or pustules; accompanied by bad breath, constipation and yellow urination; red tongue, yellowish moss and slippery pulse. Treatment: clearing away heat, removing dampness and detoxification. Prescription: add subtraction of Artemisia capillaris soup. (3) Phlegm-dampness stagnation: dark red rash, mainly nodules, abscesses, cysts, scars, or sinus tracts, which is difficult to be cured; accompanied by dullness (lack of appetite, reduced food intake) and abdominal distension; dark red tongue, yellowish greasy moss, slippery pulse. Treatment: removing dampness and resolving phlegm, promoting blood circulation and dispersing knots. Prescription: Er Chen Tang combined with Tao Hong Si Wu Tang. 2. External medication: For abscesses, cysts and nodules, external application of Jinhuang Cream can be used. Treatment should be carried out under the guidance of a doctor, do not use medicines privately as it may cause danger.
