How much do you know about cryptorchidism?

The male problem is an adult matter, and has nothing to do with teenagers”, is it really so? In most people’s eyes, male diseases are sexual dysfunction, low sperm count and azoospermia that lead to failure to have children, etc. In fact, it is not true that teenagers often come to the clinic because they cannot find their “balls”. The medical term for this is “cryptorchidism”. Untreated bilateral cryptorchidism can lead to infertility and even the possibility of developing into a malignant tumor of the testicles, which is extremely harmful. After birth, normal male testicles will descend into the scrotum and be protected by the scrotum, while cryptorchidism means that the testicles do not descend into the scrotum normally, but are hidden in the abdominal cavity or inguinal canal. If you do not know much about the danger of cryptorchidism, you do not pay attention to it. The harm of cryptorchidism should not be underestimated, and there are mainly the following points: 1. Testicular atrophy: Generally, if the testicles do not descend into the scrotum after the age of 2-5, it will cause testicular underdevelopment or atrophy, which will affect the spermatogenic function of the testicles; 2. If the testes are hidden in the inguinal canal or abdominal cavity where the temperature is high, they cannot produce sperm. Statistics show that 90% of patients with bilateral cryptorchidism are infertile; 3.Malignant change: congenital defects and abnormal position of the testes, high surrounding temperature and other factors can lead to malignant change of cryptorchidism, and the risk of malignant change is 20-48 times higher than that of normal scrotal testes; 4.Iguinal hernia: patients with cryptorchidism often have inguinal hernia because of incomplete descent of the testes and imperfect development of the inguinal canal. Statistics show that about 65% of patients with cryptorchidism have inguinal hernia; 5. Psychological diseases: Empty testicles can cause inferiority complex, mental distress, and isolation. At present, the application of advanced laparoscopic technology can completely send the cryptorchid home through three 3mm incisions on the abdominal wall and a small scrotal incision, avoiding the huge trauma of traditional surgery, and even if it is accompanied by inguinal hernia, there is no need to worry about it, and it can be repaired by applying tension-free patches under laparoscopy at the same time, killing two birds with one stone. Young parents are cautioned to remember to check the scrotum for testicles when you are excited about your son’s birth. Some newborns with cryptorchidism may descend on their own within one year of age, but if it still does not descend after one year of age, you should pay attention to it and send your child to the hospital for examination in time, so as not to delay the opportunity of surgery.
