Follicles are formed by the proliferation of lymphoid tissue in the throat, posterior pharyngeal wall, and tongue root, also known as lymphoid follicles. If lymphoid follicles are few and scattered, clinically patients do not have any discomfort and generally do not need to be treated. If the patient has a foreign body sensation in the throat, dry throat, sore throat, burning sensation in the throat and other pharyngeal discomfort, there are more lymphoid follicles in the posterior pharyngeal wall and tongue root clinically, the patient can be treated symptomatically with pharyngolaryngitis tablets and Chinese medicine preparations for pharyngolaryngitis. In some patients, if the lymphoid follicular hyperplasia at the root of the tongue and the back wall of the pharynx is abnormally pronounced, with large, lumpy bulges, surgery, i.e., plasma ablation, can be considered for treatment, provided that the patient’s symptoms are very typical and severe and long-term medication is not effective.
