What is Nicosamil also known as

Niclosamide, also known as coramidine and acetaminophen hydrochloride, is a respiratory stimulant whose use abroad is gradually decreasing or even eliminated. Its main effect, not only can directly stimulate the respiratory center, but also can directly act on the peripheral chemoreceptors, thus increasing the respiratory rate as well as the respiratory amplitude. In addition, it increases the tidal volume and reduces carbon dioxide retention, which will promote recovery of consciousness. Clinically, if niclosamide is used alone, it can increase the oxygen consumption of lung tissue and aggravate respiratory muscle fatigue. Therefore, more combined ventilator-assisted ventilation can improve the effectiveness of ventilation, thus forming a virtuous circle, while achieving an improved prognosis and shortening the duration of mechanical ventilation as well as the length of hospitalization. In addition, etiologic treatment, such as infection control and bronchodilatation, is needed to improve the patient’s ventilatory function and thus achieve better therapeutic results.
