Can you swim with bone cement?

You can’t swim after the bone cement surgery, at least 3~6 months after the doctor decided that you have recovered well. After cement surgery, the pain will be relieved and you can wear a brace to protect your activities. Since the bone at the cemented site is hard and the local stress is relatively high, avoid strenuous exercise for 3~6 months. Especially when swimming, the larger amplitude may cause pain and discomfort at the surgical site. There is also the possibility of re-fracture. Generally speaking, after 3~6 months of cementing, you can go swimming under the guidance of your doctor if you have a good recovery from radiographs and have no local pain or limitation of activities. The exercise time should not be too long at the beginning to avoid fatigue and pain.
