What to look for in a blood test for liver function

Blood tests for liver function look at items such as aminotransferases, bilirubin, and protein. Albumin transaminase and glutamine transaminase can assess the liver function and whether there is any damage; total bilirubin, indirect bilirubin, direct bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase can know the bilirubin metabolism and whether there is any cholestasis, etc.; total protein and albumin can help to understand the synthesis function of the liver; and hyaluronic acid can assess the fibrosis of the liver and so on. Through the liver function tests, you can know the basic condition of the liver, but it is important to note that you should fast 8 to 12 hours before the liver function test, and you should not drink alcohol and do not exercise strenuously on the day before, otherwise the accuracy of the test results will be affected.
