Do you need constant drops for glaucoma?

Some patients with glaucoma need to be treated with continuous dosing of eye drops, but they need to follow their doctor’s instructions for medication and, if necessary, surgery. Usually, the main purpose of using eye drops for glaucoma patients is to control the rise of intraocular pressure and prevent further aggravation of the condition. Therefore, some glaucoma patients need to follow the doctor’s instructions to continue to use eye drops treatment, commonly used in the clinic 1%~4% Trichomonine eye drops, 4% Trichomonine gel and other pupil shrinking drugs, 0.25%~0.5% timolol, 0.25%~0.5% betaxolol and other β-adrenergic receptor blockers. Some patients with glaucoma need to be treated with carbonic anhydrase inhibitors such as acetazolamide and 1% brinzolamide as prescribed. In addition to the prescribed medication, some patients with severe conditions or unsatisfactory drug treatment can also seek medical treatment through surgical procedures such as laser peripheral iridectomy, laser peripheral iridoplasty and trabeculectomy. It is recommended that glaucoma patients follow the doctor’s instructions to use medication, and not to use medication indiscriminately on their own. If the medication is accompanied by uncomfortable symptoms, it should be discontinued and medical treatment should be sought.
