Two days jaundice index of 16mg/dL in newborns is abnormal, which belongs to pathologic jaundice and should be treated promptly.
Physiologic jaundice in full-term infants appears 2~3 days after birth, subsides in 5~7 days, and does not exceed 2 weeks at the latest, while in preterm infants, it is delayed to subside for 3~4 weeks at the longest.
