NEC refers to necrotizing enterocolitis of the small intestine in newborns. Neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis refers to the necrotizing disease of the intestinal tube that occurs in newborns due to intestinal infections caused by a variety of reasons that are not treated in a timely manner. For neonatal necrotizing small bowel colitis patients are mostly seen in preterm infants, usually appear abdominal distension, vomiting, blood in the stool and other symptoms, but abdominal distension appeared earlier, and more will persist. Once diagnosed, fasting and gastrointestinal decompression are required, followed by anti-infective and other supportive treatments, and surgery if necessary. For newborns, especially premature babies, it is recommended to consult a doctor for targeted treatment.
