Is thyroid malignancy a cancer?

The thyroid gland is an important endocrine gland in the human body, located in the front of the neck like a butterfly, and its main role is to secrete thyroxine. Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor that grows on the thyroid gland. According to the pathological types, there are five major types of thyroid cancer: differentiated thyroid cancer (including papillary thyroid tumor and follicular thyroid tumor), medullary carcinoma, and undifferentiated carcinoma. Medullary carcinoma and undifferentiated carcinoma have poor prognosis and short survival period, especially undifferentiated carcinoma has poor prognosis and short survival period, and the disease develops rapidly in a short period of time and the mortality rate is high. Although malignant tumor of thyroid is defined as a kind of cancer, it is not the same as cancer of other organs and parts. Most malignant tumors of thyroid have good prognosis, some of them develop slowly and do not affect life expectancy, and early detection and timely treatment can achieve curative effect. Therefore, patients suffering from thyroid malignant tumor do not need to be overly nervous and anxious, but seek medical treatment in time, early diagnosis and early treatment, their prognosis is very good.
