Troglitazone is a dipeptidyl enzyme-4 inhibitor, which is mainly used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus by promoting insulin secretion in order to lower blood glucose. Troglitazone is an oral hypoglycemic drug used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, which mainly reduces blood glucose by inhibiting dipeptidyl peptidase-4, which causes pancreatic islet B cells to release insulin and inhibits pancreatic islet A cells from secreting glucagon. However, troglitazone can have some adverse effects, such as hypoglycemia, allergy, and elevated lipase. In addition, it is contraindicated in patients with severe ketosis, diabetic coma or pre-coma, type 1 diabetes mellitus, severe infections, and severe trauma.
