What Causes Endometrial Polyps

Endometrial polyp generally refers to endometrial polyp. The exact cause of endometrial polyps is not clear, but the risk factors include endocrine factors, inflammation and others.
1. Endocrine factors, such as ovulation disorders, high levels of estrogen in the body, exogenous supplementation of estrogen, or long-term use of estrogen-containing health care products, etc., can contribute to the overgrowth of the uterine local endometrium, which can lead to the occurrence of endometrial polyps.
2. Inflammatory stimulation, endometritis, or due to intrauterine device stimulation, puerperal infection, etc., can cause endometrial polyps.
3. Others, advanced age, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, and long-term oral tamoxifen in breast cancer patients after surgery are also high-risk factors for endometrial polyps.
Endometrial polyps less than 1 centimeter in size may subside naturally and can be observed and followed up if there are no symptoms; endometrial polyps larger than 1 centimeter in size have a lower probability of subsiding naturally and can be treated with hysteroscopic surgery.
