How to change stitches for medication

The steps of suture dressing change mainly include removing the dressing, sterilizing it and covering it with sterile dressing. 1. Remove the dressing: wash your hands first, then remove the outer dressing with your hands, and use tweezers to remove the inner dressing. If the suture wound has a lot of secretion and is dry and sticky, use saline to moisten the wound and remove it carefully, so as not to damage the wound as much as possible. 2. Disinfection: the disinfection range is generally 3~5 cm from the incision, the wound is not infected, use iodophor cotton balls to disinfect the wound from the wound outward in turn. If the wound is red and swollen, it needs to be observed carefully, remove purulent secretion after disinfecting with iodine vapour, remove part of the suture if necessary, drain the pus as much as possible, place drainage strips and then bandage it, and change the dressing every day. 3. Cover the sterile dressing: after disinfection, cover the incision with sterile dressing again and fix it with tape or bandage to prevent the wound from being contaminated. Changing the dressing is also a process of observing the wound and needs to be disposed of according to the wound condition.
