Nature of pain

Pain is one of the common symptoms in clinical work. It is a complex physiological and psychological activity that serves as an early warning when the organism is injured and a series of defensive protective reactions can occur. Pain, as a sensory activity, is subjective and the nature of pain can be described as stabbing, burning, throbbing, dull or colicky pain. Depending on the duration and degree of pain when it occurs, it can also be classified as acute pain, chronic pain, and mild, moderate, or severe pain. For some severe pains that persist, the quality of life of patients is seriously affected. Therefore, pain relief is an important task faced by medical professionals.
