Tongzhi can be taken directly in decoction, but the efficacy of single herb is limited, clinically it needs to be used with other herbs after identification by a Chinese medicine practitioner.
Tong Cao has the effects of diuretic and diuresis (to improve the problem of incomplete urination and small amount of urine), and it is also effective in promoting the flow of Qi and lowering the breast milk. It is mainly used in the treatment of gonorrhea (increased frequency of urination, dribbling and astringent pain), edema, postpartum lactation, dizziness, urinary redness and astringent pain (fever, unobstructed and painful urination), and urinary dysuria (unsmooth urination), etc. It is also used in the treatment of diarrhea and astringent pain.
It should be noted that pregnant women should use Tong Cao with caution. People with deficiency of qi and yin and without internal dampness or heat should be cautious of using Tong Cao.
If you need to take Tong Cao, you should use it under the guidance of a Chinese medicine practitioner.
