Self-assessment of adenoid facies

Self-testing for adenoid facies can be done by looking at the bones of the head and face, the lips and teeth, and facial expressions to determine the presence of adenoid facies.
Adenoid facies refers to the habit of open-mouth breathing that can be triggered by hypertrophy of the adenoids, which can obstruct the nasal passages. Prolonged open-mouth breathing affects the abnormal development of the maxillofacial skeleton, thus causing characteristic facial changes. The main manifestations are overgrowth of the maxilla, high arch of the hard palate, irregularities of the teeth, protrusion of the upper incisors, and thick lips.
At the same time, it can also be manifested as stagnant face, lack of expression, and so on. Adenoid face can be self-tested by observing whether there are any of the above abnormal manifestations.
In addition, prolonged adenoid hypertrophy and lack of ventilation in the nose are also likely to cause ischemia and lack of oxygen in the head, followed by mental depression, memory loss, slow reaction and other manifestations.
It is important to note that the method of self-testing does not have diagnostic value, and if the above abnormal manifestations occur, it is necessary to go to the hospital in time for consultation and treatment.
