For children with eye droppings, the possible clinical causes include normal physiological manifestations, conjunctivitis, dacryocystitis and so on.
1. Normal physiological performance: eye droppings are the residues of tears after evaporation and crystallization mixed with other secretion substances, mostly transparent or light white and small amount, which is the normal excretion of the eyes, without special treatment.
2. Conjunctivitis: children do not pay attention to hand hygiene or the surrounding environment is more dirty, may cause the conjunctival tissue of the eye by bacterial invasion and infection, clinical manifestations of eye pain, redness, swelling, itching, etc., and at the same time, tear secretion increased and caused by the amount of eye droppings increased.
3. Dacryocystitis: this condition is mostly related to the obstruction of the nasolacrimal duct, bacterial invasion and accumulation of tears will cause inflammation in the lacrimal sac, clinical manifestations include congestion, swelling and pain in the lacrimal sac area, and at the same time, there will be pus secretion and increase in tears, which will lead to an increase in the amount of eye droppings.
Eye infections affect the function of the child’s eyes, and parents should take their children to the hospital as soon as possible to avoid worsening the symptoms of infection.
