The Four Slit Points belong to the Meridian Extraordinary Points (经外奇穴), and the four points in one hand are called Four Slit Points (四缝), which can improve pediatric chancre (a kind of children’s chronic disease, which manifests itself as emaciation of the body, abnormal eating and drinking, abdominal distension, and sparse and withered hair, etc) and whooping cough.
As the name suggests, there are four points within four crevices, eight in total, located at the midpoint of the transverse lines between the proximal fingers of the second to fifth on the side of the palm of the hand, which are mainly used for treating pediatric illnesses, and where there may be a clear reaction point for pediatric conditions.
When a child is suffering from chancre, yellow face and poor appetite, the Four Sutures point can be punctured and the yellowish-white fluid can be squeezed out until the fluid becomes bloody and then stops; if a child is suffering from whooping cough, the Four Sutures point can be directly pricked or punctured with a three-pronged needle, and the Four Sutures point of both hands is operated interchangeably, which helps to alleviate the disease.
