Atorvastatin does not usually cause swollen legs and feet.
Atorvastatin is a commonly used lipid-regulating drug that can lower total blood cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B and triglycerides. The most common adverse effects of atorvastatin are gastrointestinal symptoms, and other adverse effects include headache and rash. Liver function needs to be monitored while using the drug as it has a chance of causing elevated transaminases. Serious adverse reactions may include angioneurotic edema, pancreatitis, rhabdomyolysis, etc., but it is not common, rhabdomyolysis can cause renal failure, so attention should be paid to the use of the drug.
Active liver disease, unexplained persistent elevation of aminotransferases, pregnant women, lactating women and those who are allergic to atorvastatin are prohibited. Elderly people, kidney injury and other special groups of people need to follow the doctor’s advice when using the drug.
Diseases causing leg and foot swelling may include cardiac insufficiency, nephritis, cirrhosis, endocrine metabolic diseases such as hypothyroidism and Cushing’s syndrome, malnutrition, connective tissue disease, etc.; some physiological factors, such as pregnancy, premenstrual period can also lead to lower limb edema.
