The efficacy and effects of Pientzehuang

  Pientzehuang is a first-class protected species of Chinese medicine in China, and its main ingredients are cowry, musk, panax pseudoginseng and snake bile. Pientzehuang has the functions of clearing heat and detoxifying, cooling blood and resolving blood stasis, reducing swelling and relieving pain.  Pientzehuang is widely used in clinic, and it is mostly used in treating acute and chronic viral hepatitis caused by heat and blood stasis, carbuncle and furuncle, nameless swelling and poison, bruises and various inflammatory diseases. It is reported that Pientzehuang has especially good efficacy in infectious diseases, and it has been listed in relevant guides such as Expert Guidance on Chinese Medicine Treatment of Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever (the first edition) and Dengue Fever Treatment Guide (the second edition in 2014).  Pientzehuang is recommended to be used in the following cases: ① liver-protecting and enzyme-lowering treatment for various types of viral hepatitis; ② carbuncles and furuncles, nameless swelling and poison, bruises and various inflammatory diseases; ③ recurrent and radioactive mouth ulcers. According to clinical and experimental research results, the following cases are recommended to use Pientzehuang at clinical discretion: ① all types of primary liver cancer, especially those whose Chinese medical certificate is liver heat and blood stasis or heat and poison stasis type; ② colorectal cancer, whose Chinese medical certificate is poison heat and stasis type.
