Is there a relationship between alcohol consumption and stomach cancer?

Alcohol consumption is related to gastric cancer, but it is not a determinant and direct factor of gastric cancer. It is because alcohol can cause damage to the gastric mucosa, causing gastric mucosa erosion and congestion, edema, and even ulcers. If combined with other gastric cancer triggering factors, such as long-term consumption of high-salt, smoked and pickled food, long-term staying up late, smoking, psychological stress, undisciplined life, H. pylori infection and so on. Then the gastric mucosa damage is prone to precancerous lesions such as intestinal epithelial hyperplasia and atypical hyperplasia of gastric mucosa, and then cancer. If the patient has precancerous lesions of gastric polyp, chronic atrophic gastritis or gastric ulcer, alcohol stimulation can accelerate the progress of the disease and the cancer will appear in the short term. Although alcohol is not a direct factor of gastric cancer, it has a certain promotion effect on the occurrence of gastric cancer. Therefore, alcohol should be avoided or consumed in small amounts to avoid the occurrence of gastric cancer.
