Generally, Stage I pneumoconiosis is not particularly serious and patients need to engage in active self-management. Pneumoconiosis is a disease characterized by diffuse fibrosis of the lung tissue caused by long-term inhalation of productive mineral dust and its retention in the lungs during occupational activities. As pneumoconiosis stage I is mostly a milder form of early pneumoconiosis, most of the people in this stage do not have any obvious signs and symptoms, or only have slight discomfort. As the disease is mild, it is often overlooked. Self-management is sufficient for asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic patients with normal lung function. Self-managed patients should follow the relevant contents of health management, avoid continued dust exposure, quit smoking, undergo regular occupational health checkups as required, participate in relevant rehabilitation training, and pay attention to the prevention of respiratory infections and the occurrence of various complications. If the patient is diagnosed with pneumoconiosis, it is recommended that he/she should improve his/her health examination regularly and consult the doctor if he/she feels unwell, so as to avoid delaying his/her condition.
