How long does breast cancer surgery take?

The surgery time for breast cancer varies from 1-2 hours. The traditional surgical procedure of modified radical mastectomy for breast cancer, because the malignant tumors of the breast mainly occur in the outer upper quadrant of the breast, can be performed with either a longitudinal shuttle incision or a transverse shuttle incision depending on the size of the lesion. Depending on the size of the lesion, a longitudinal shuttle incision or a transverse shuttle incision may be chosen. During the operation, the breast tissue and the superficial layer of the pectoralis major fascia are removed, and the axillary lymph nodes are removed. After surgery, systemic intravenous chemotherapy is required, and intraoperative drains are placed in the axilla and parietal sternum to facilitate postoperative dressing changes and observation. The cause of breast cancer is related to abnormal estrogen levels in the body, and the incidence is higher in middle-aged and elderly patients. If early diagnosis and timely surgery is chosen, the survival time after surgery is very satisfactory.
