What to expect from a gastroenteroscopy

The precautions for gastroenteroscopy are divided into pre-examination and post-examination precautions, and the precautions for enteroscopy and gastroscopy are slightly different.
1. Precautions before colonoscopy: generally stop eating at about 8:00 p.m. on the day before the examination, drink bowel cleansing medicine, and moderate exercise to promote defecation until the discharge of watery stools.
2. Precautions to be taken before gastroscopy: fasting for 4 to 6 hours before the examination, and removing the movable dentures, if any, before the examination.
3. Precautions after colonoscopy: pay attention to the need to cooperate with the physician to complete the examination operation, after the completion of the examination should pay attention to observe whether there is severe abdominal pain, blood in the stool and so on.
4. Precautions to be taken after gastroscopy: no food should be eaten for 1 to 2 hours after the examination, after which soft food can be eaten first and normal diet can be resumed slowly.
The medication should be used under the guidance of a physician, and should not be used blindly on its own.
